City of Conyers, GA
City Wayfinding : Value Engineering, Fabrication, Installation & Logistics
ACSM was awarded the contract to fabricate and install this multi-faceted sign system for the City of Conyers, GA in 2018. The provided design intent drawings juxtaposed clean lines with an industrial aesthetic linking the town to its railroad heritage.

Secondary Gateway
Downtown Parking
During the production design process, ACSM was able to reduce complexity and material costs while maintaining the overall integrity of the design. Our Field Logistics Team worked closely with the Department of Public Works, helping to coordinate underground utility locates, material excavation, and organizing multiple electrical services powering the back-lit monument signs.
DOT Compliant Street Signage
Pedestrian Wayfinding
After discovering granite bedrock just under the surface of the ground, our value engineering processes adapted shallow footers with larger footprints, instead of deep, narrow excavations to maintain Georgia engineering certification. This obstacle also led our field logistics team to utilize hydro trenching techniques to meet the power requirements of the electrified gateway signs.
Design+Build
Our Deep knowledge of both DOT and MUTCD requirements is crucial during the design and material selection process. Everything we design is compliant with both local and national municipal requirements, and is efficient to manufacture.
Say goodbye to “Design Intent” drawings that can’t be built.
City of Shelby, NC
Design+Build City & Park Wayfinding : Planning, Design, Value Engineering, Fabrication, Installation & Logistics
A strong commitment from the city, citizens and business leaders prompted the desire to implement a city-wide wayfinding system to guide the influx of visitors into Shelby. Though the city did not have a “brand” to incorporate into the sign design, the city wished to move forward with the revitalization project. To close this gap, ACSM led an appointed committee and designed four unique and artistically interpretive finial designs that exemplify the best of Shelby.

Pedestrian Wayfinding
Timber Trailhead
Having completed the City of Shelby’s municipal wayfinding project, we were asked to lead the planning, design, and fabrication of a directional system focused on increasing the usability of Shelby’s diverse park system, including their new hallmark soccer facility, Hanna Park.
Park Wayfinding
Field Signage
After a multiphase design process, the ideal park wayfinding solution revealed itself as one that addresses both vehicular and pedestrian traffic at a number of different scales. In keeping with the natural beauty of the parks, the chosen aesthetic is decidedly rustic, and references Shelby’s existing identity in both design and construction. Rough hewn cedar beams were used along with aluminum panels for longevity and consistency with the city wayfinding system.

City of Asheville, NC
Park Wayfinding & Signage : Value Engineering, Fabrication, Installation & Logistics
In 2017, ACSM was awarded the task of fabricating and installing Asheville’s park identification signs. Spread throughout the city, the 22 entrance signs feature natural stone bases and sandblasted cedar panels which mimic a traditional hand carved sign. The signs were hand-painted to complement the existing natural surroundings and illuminated for early morning or evening readability.
The city also requested new custom park rules signs to be placed in 100 locations throughout Asheville. ACSM designed this new sign to integrate seamlessly into the natural elements of the mountain city.
In 2020, ACSM completed 14 additional park identification signs as a part of the phase 2 plan, fabricated and installed 18 marker signs for a popular disc golf course, and harmonized the park signage street address system.
The goal of any wayfinding System is to facilitate intuitive navigation. With insight and guidance from your Team, we will leverage our Experience to confidently move Visitors through your community.
City of Wilson, NC
Design+Build City Wayfinding : Design, Value Engineering, Fabrication, Installation & Logistics
In 2019, ACSM was selected to design, fabricate, and install a city wide sign system for the City of Wilson. Utilizing ACSM’s full Design+Build capabilities, we created a unique design that honors the city’s hallmark whirligig park by nesting a dimensional gear pattern inside the unconventional I-beam posts. The city’s recent re-branding was incorporated in the wayfinding and gateway monument signs as well, reinforcing the wave motif and signature leaf badge seen across Wilson’s local identity.

City of Bartlesville, OK
Design+Build City Wayfinding : Design, Value Engineering, Fabrication, Installation & Logistics
In early 2021 ACSM was selected to design, fabricate, and install a citywide sign program based on our vision for including Bartlesville’s unique blend of culture, industrial history, architecture, and natural beauty. With fabrication currently underway, this project will include 50+ wayfinding signs, downtown pedestrian signage, multiple city gateway signs, and sign systems for 10 city parks.
Drawing from the city’s diverse sources, ACSM was inspired to create a wayfinding system that took a modern approach combined with a distinctly architectural flair, incorporating layers and dimensions to highlight the depth found within Bartlesville’s story. For the park signage plan, our designers developed a clean, modern look blending powerful colors with traditional textures for a cohesive design that stands out without overwhelming Bartlesville’s natural setting.
